FIRKIN Gin has received four nominations for the 2018 Scottish Gin Awards.
Original FIRKIN Gin, which received a Silver Medal at last year’s Awards, has once again been nominated in the Cask Gin of the Year category. The gin, which was first launched in 2015, is aged in American Oak ex-whisky barrels to produce a truly unique flavour.
The majority of FIRKIN’s success this year comes in the Speciality Gin of the Year category, where FIRKIN Old Tom, FIRKIN Rosie and FIRKIN Yuletide have all been recognised. These three gins are the latest additions to the FIRKIN Gin range, having all been launched in 2018.
Founder of FIRKIN Gin, Derek Mair, is delighted to see the new spirits being recognised by a panel of industry experts: “We put a lot of time and effort into perfecting the new FIRKIN gins, so we are very pleased to see all three receive a nomination for the 2018 Scottish Gin Awards. This is the first opportunity to have the gins judged, so we’re hoping they’ll be as successful as our other products have been in the past.”
Derek is also pleased to see further recognition for the multi award-winning Original FIRKIN Gin: “Last year we received a Silver Medal for our Original FIRKIN Gin, so we’re hoping to go one step further this year and pick up the Gold.”
The Awards evening, which will see 46 producers from across Scotland coming together, will be held this September at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.
